The visit is over and you mark the chart complete. Before you have switched to the next patient, billing for that visit has already been dealt with: a draft invoice is waiting, or a package has been used, or Goji has told you what it needs from you.
Turning it on
Set Invoicing to Automatic under Settings → Billing. Manual leaves invoices to you; Automatic also prepares a draft whenever you mark a session’s chart complete. You still review the draft and choose Issue, so nothing reaches a patient on its own.
What Goji decides
The result appears on the chart the moment it resolves, with a Review billing link. There are four outcomes:
- One package covers the visit: a credit is used and a zero-dollar invoice records it, as described in session packages.
- No package applies and the service has a price: a draft invoice with one line, the service and the visit date, at the service’s current price.
- More than one package could cover it and your package setting is Always ask: nothing is created, and the chart asks you to pick a package or bill the visit normally.
- No package applies and the service has no price: nothing is created, because Goji won’t guess an amount. The chart asks you to enter one, or you can set a standing price in Settings → Services.
The two questions stay on the patient’s Billing tab until you answer them, so they are not lost if you leave the chart.
Safe to repeat
A visit gets at most one invoice. If you reopen a chart and complete it again, Goji reports what already exists instead of making a second one, and a billing problem never stops you from completing the chart.
