Acupuncture schools directory

Search U.S. acupuncture schools by state and program type, with costs and accreditation links.

Tactile editorial artwork for Guide Schools

Choosing a school is one of the biggest decisions in this career. This directory is built from ACAHM's accredited and pre-accredited list, checked October 12, 2026, and it keeps accreditation, cost and length in one place so you can narrow the field before you start calling.

Search, filter and sort

A tile map of the states shows how many schools have a campus in each; choose one to filter the list. You can also search by school or city on any campus, pick a state, pick a degree level (entry-level master's, professional doctorate, advanced doctorate, Chinese herbal certificate), and tick Includes Chinese herbal medicine or Has a recorded cost. Sort by name, master's total cost or master's length, in either direction. A table of lowest, median, average and highest program totals recalculates for the schools currently shown.

What each school shows

  • The main campus city, whether ACAHM accredits the whole institution or particular programs, and any ACAHM warning or probation notice.
  • Each accredited program with its published credits and a headline cost, labeled by what it includes, such as tuition only or with fees.
  • A details section with campuses and map links, contact information, every cost figure with its source and as-of date, and the date the school was last checked.
  • Direct links to the official accreditation record and the school's own website.

Reading it carefully

Credits are in each school's own units, so semester and quarter schools are not directly comparable, and the directory records credits rather than calendar time. Costs are the schools' own published figures, only stated or calculable totals are averaged, and some include fees or books while others do not. A school with multiple campuses appears once, so state counts add up to more than the number of institutions. The page tells you to ask for total cost in writing and to open the accreditation record to confirm the exact program and campus, because status can change between reviews.

Accreditation does not by itself qualify you for a license in every state, so each state in the by-state table links to its page in the licensing guide. A short list of questions covers cost, clinical hours, herbal training, in-person attendance and outcomes. For what the specialty choice looks like afterward see the specialties guide.
