Billing identity per location

A second location can bill under its own address, phone or Tax ID.

Tactile editorial artwork for Superbill Location Billing

Your second clinic runs under its own address and its own Tax ID, but shares the practice phone. An insurer reads a superbill as two separate facts: who is being paid, and where the visit happened. Each location can now say both.

Blank means the practice default.

Where to set it

The practice's phone, address and Tax ID live under Settings > Billing and are the default every location bills under. For a location, open Settings > Scheduling, then the facility's Address & billing section. It holds the location's own address and place of service, and below them a Billed under block with a billing address, billing phone and billing Tax ID (EIN).

With one location there is nothing to do. Even with several, most leave Billed under blank.

Field by field

Each field falls back on its own. A location that bills under its own address but shares the practice phone fills in only the address, and the phone and Tax ID still come from the practice. While you edit, the blank fields show the practice values as placeholders. When you are not editing, a line reads Billed under with the resolved address, phone and Tax ID, and says whether they are this location's own details or your practice details. That is what the superbill will say.

On the document

The superbill uses the location of the visit's appointment. Its billing block carries the resolved address, phone and Tax ID. A separate Place of service line carries the CMS code (office by default, with home and telehealth options), the location's name, and its street address only when that address differs from the billing one. Invoices take their issuer details from the same resolution, fixed when the invoice is issued.

Try it in your own practice.
