Account to confirm

Visitors create an account or sign in to confirm a booking, so it lands on a patient record. Turn it off to take a name and email instead.

A visitor picks Thursday at 10, then has to decide whether to hand over a password. Some practices want that step, because the booking then belongs to a real person, and some would rather keep it as light as a phone call. It is your call, and one switch makes it.

With the switch on

It is on by default. Choosing a time moves the visitor to a review step, and Reserve this time holds it (see Reservation holds). They then reach a confirm page with the appointment summary beside two panels: Don't have an account?, where they enter a name, email address and password and press Create Account, and I already have an account, where they sign in.

A visitor who is already signed in skips the panels. The review step says Book this time and confirms in that one click. Everyone else lands on a confirm page that shows the hold, which is extended to the full hold time each time the page loads, so stopping to create an account doesn't cost them the slot.

Create an account, or sign in, to confirm.

A first-time visitor gets a patient record made from the name and email on the account, linked to a portal sign-in at your practice, and the appointment is attached to it. A returning patient who signs in with an account already linked to you keeps their existing record. Either way the booking doesn't wait in New online bookings, and the confirmation page offers View in your account, the portal described in Booking from the portal.

A verification email goes out when the account is created, but it never blocks booking or signing in. The patient page's Patient calendar access panel shows Email verified or Email not verified.

With the switch off

The visitor skips the account and gets a Your details step with Name, Email and Phone. A name is required, plus an email or a phone so you can reach them. Confirm booking finishes it. There is no patient record yet: the booking goes on your calendar with the Online booking badge and into New online bookings, where you match it to a patient, create one or leave it as a guest, because Goji never matches a name or email to your patients on its own.

Where to find it

Open Settings → Scheduling, in the Online booking section under Preview what patients see. Require an account to book says visitors create an account or log in to confirm a time, and that turning it off collects a name, email and phone instead. It only appears while Public booking is on.

On by default.

Payment still needs an account

Sign-in can't happen inside a frame on another site, so a booking embedded on your website only finishes inline when the switch is off, and the same payment rule applies there. See Prepaid appointments for what a service can ask for.

Try it in your own practice.
