Chart status on the calendar

Draft and charted visits are color-coded on the calendar and dashboard.

Tactile editorial artwork for Chart Status Colors

At a glance, which visits still need a note? A visit with no chart, a visit with a draft and a visit with a finished chart each get their own look, so you do not open appointments one at a time to find out.

The same colors everywhere.

What the colors mean

  • Not started: no chart exists yet. The visit keeps its normal accent color.
  • In progress: a chart exists but is still a Draft, shown in the warning color.
  • Complete: the chart is marked Complete, shown in a quiet muted color so finished work recedes.

The colors appear on the appointment blocks in the calendar grid and on the rows of the dashboard's Today's schedule card. Cancelled and expired bookings keep their own look and are not colored by chart status, so the two ideas never share a color. Guest bookings with no patient yet read as Not started.

The button on each row

The session button follows the same states. With no chart it reads Start session. With a draft it reads Continue draft (the icon version says Continue draft note) and opens the editor, with a Details link beside it. Once complete it reads Charted and opens the finished session, with an Edit link beside it. Every session starts as a Draft, including one filled out in a single sitting, until you switch it to Complete in the editor.

Filtering by status

On the dashboard, the filter on Today's schedule narrows the rows to All charting, Not started, In progress or Complete. For every past visit still owed, across all dates, use the charting queue.

Try it in your own practice.
