Charting queue

Every past visit still missing a finished chart, across all patients.

Tactile editorial artwork for Charting Queue

Friday afternoon: what's left to write up? The dashboard shows the next few days, and the calendar shows a week at a time, so a note you meant to finish on Tuesday has scrolled out of sight. The charting queue lists every past visit that still lacks a finished chart, however old, in one place.

Everything still owed.

What is in the queue

Open Charting in the sidebar. A visit is listed when it has already ended, it is booked with a patient, and its status is confirmed or completed. It stays listed until its chart is marked Complete, so a visit with no chart yet and a visit with a draft chart both count.

Each row shows the patient, the date and time, the service and the provider, with a Not started or In progress pill and the same session buttons as the dashboard. The oldest visit comes first, because the longest-overdue note is the one most worth finishing. The sidebar shows a count beside Charting with the number of visits needing notes.

Cancelled visits and holds that never confirmed are left out. So are online bookings not yet matched to a patient, since there is no record to chart against; those wait in the Calendar until you match them.

Narrowing it down

The filter menu above the list has four choices: Needs notes, which is the default, Not started, In progress, and All visits. All visits adds the finished ones back in. When nothing needs a note the page says All caught up, nothing needs a note. The list is not paged, and the filter lives in the page address as a plain word, never patient information.

To see how the colors and wording match the schedule, read Chart status on the calendar.

Try it in your own practice.
