Patient notes

Keep notes on a patient's page, separate from visit charts, for calls, billing and reminders.

Tactile editorial artwork for Patient Notes

A patient calls to move a visit and mentions a new medication. That belongs on their record, but not in last week's chart.

Adding a note

Open the patient's Notes tab, type in the box (it suggests preferences, referral source, anything that isn't a session) and choose Add. A note belongs to the patient, so it never edits or clutters a visit's chart. Use it for the phone call, the billing question, or a reminder for next time.

Keeping notes useful

  • Pin a note to hold it in its own Pinned section at the top, like an allergy or a standing instruction. A pinned note also previews on the patient's Overview.
  • Each note shows who added it and when, and an edited tag if it changed afterward.
  • Edit with the pencil button or by double-clicking the text; delete moves a note to the trash rather than erasing it.
  • Search the box above the list to filter by note text. Older notes load in batches with Load more.

Notes take light formatting too; see note formatting and pinning and search.

Notes live on the patient, not on a visit.

Try it in your own practice.
