A 60-minute slot isn't always 60 minutes of treatment. Part of it is intake and part is resting with the needles in. A superbill that bills the whole slot overstates the visit, and one you have to work out by hand costs you the time you were trying to save.
How the codes are chosen
Open the receipt icon on a visit that has a session. The Procedures performed section derives the acupuncture codes from two things in the chart: the treatment minutes, and whether the technique includes Electro-stim. Without it you get 97810; with it, 97813.
Treatment minutes start at the service's own treatment time if you set one (Settings > Scheduling, on the service), otherwise at the appointment's scheduled length. Edit the number for this visit and it is saved with the visit, and a Reset to default button appears. A visit under 8 minutes gets no code, and the table says so.
Extra time units are opt-in
By default every visit bills a single initial unit, however long it ran. The additional 15-minute codes, 97811 and 97814, are defined as with re-insertion of needle(s), in practice a new needle set, and the chart cannot record one. If you do track that yourself, turn on Add units for longer visits under Settings > Billing. Units then follow the 8-minute rule: 8 to 22 minutes is one unit, 23 to 37 is two, and so on, and they update as you type.
The page tells you which mode you are in, so a 45-minute visit billing one unit is never a surprise.
What is not guessed
Infrared, manual therapy and anything else the chart cannot prove are ticked by you under Also performed this visit, never inferred. Codes beyond needling come from Billing codes. These are suggestions to review, not a certified bill, and Goji does not submit the superbill to an insurer.
