You offer acupuncture and a facial treatment. One of them takes a pulse and a tongue reading. The other doesn't, and a pulse tab sitting empty on every facial chart is a small, daily reminder that the software was built for someone else's practice.
A chart template fixes that. It is the list of things a chart has on it, and each service can use its own.
Build a chart in Settings
Open Settings → Charting and find Chart templates. Every practice starts with one chart, the Default chart, made of your existing session fields plus all six built-in sections in the order they have always appeared. Nothing about your charts changes until you edit it.
Choose + Add chart template to make a second. It starts empty and is named New chart, because a second chart usually exists because the visit looks different, and starting from a copy would mean deleting most of it. Name it something like Microneedling note, then add what it needs with + Add field.
Fields come from two places. Your own fields are the usual types, short or long text, yes or no, select, date, number and a repeating group, with the hint, tooltip, width and default value described in chart field settings. The six built-in sections are Visit note, Points, Pulse, Tongue, Pattern and Technique. Add starter fields drops in a ready-made set instead, as covered in starter chart fields.
Built-in sections: leave them on, off or renamed
The built-in sections are Goji's own widgets, like the meridian point picker and the pulse and tongue pickers. You can't change how they work. You can decide whether a chart has one, and what it is called on that chart, so Pattern can read Pattern differentiation. Each can appear on a chart only once, since each writes to one place in the record, and the type picker greys out a section that is already there.
Leaving a section off removes it everywhere on the session: its form, its place in the summary panel and the visit card. The four tabs of the TCM chart follow what is left. A chart with no pulse or tongue has no Pulse & Tongue tab, a chart with only one of the pair names its tab for that one, and Notes stays as long as the chart has a note or any of your own fields.
See it before staff do
Beside the field list, the Chart map draws your own fields as blocks in their order and width, colored by kind, so a chart laid out in halves and thirds reads at a glance. Preview chart opens a full-width pop-out headed with what staff will see when they chart this service, using the real inputs for your own fields and labelled stand-ins for the built-in sections.
Give each service its chart
Open a service under Settings → Scheduling and choose a Chart template. Practice default follows whichever chart you have marked as the default; choosing a chart from the list pins this service to it. Until you have built a second chart there is nothing to choose between, so the control stays out of the way.
When you start a session, Goji picks the chart from the appointment's service. A service with no chart of its own uses the practice default. This pairs with walk-in charting: the service you choose there decides which chart you get.
Rules and edge cases
- A session records which chart it was started on. Pointing a service at a different chart only affects sessions started afterward.
- Make default moves the Default badge to another chart. You can't delete the default: you are asked to make another chart the default first.
- Deleting a chart that sessions were charted on doesn't hide those sessions; they still render with the chart they used.
- A field you remove from a chart stops being offered on new sessions. The pulse, tongue or other value already saved in the record isn't deleted.
