You chart “low back, standard” many times a week, and the same six points, the same pattern and the same needling note are typed in every time. Save it once, and apply it in a click.
Build one, or save the chart you are on
Choose Protocols in the sidebar, then New protocol. Give it a name you will recognize in a list, such as Low back, standard, and fill in the points, pulse, tongue, pattern, technique and free text the same way you would on a chart. The form uses the chart's own tabs and pickers, opens on Points, and puts a dot on each tab that has something in it. Save protocol stays disabled until the protocol has a name and at least one entry.
The quicker route is the protocols panel on the session form. Once the chart has something in it, Save current session as protocol asks for a name and stores what is on the chart as it stands. Custom fields are left out, since those describe one visit rather than a plan.
Apply it from the chart
On the session form, click the Apply a protocol box and type a few letters of a name, or arrow through the list. Each option shows a one-line summary, such as the number of points and the pattern, so you know what you are about to add. Enter or a click applies it.
Applying adds to the chart and never replaces it. These are the rules:
- Points are added unless the chart already has a point with that code.
- Pulse, tongue, pattern and technique entries are merged in without duplicates.
- Free text is appended on a new line after what you wrote.
- Pattern notes and retention minutes you already entered are kept; the protocol only fills them if they are empty.
- Technique start time is never taken from a protocol.
That is what lets you stack, for example a points protocol and a separate pattern protocol in one visit. The chart saves as soon as you apply, and session history records it as Applied protocol, with the protocol's name, so you can see where it came from. If you applied the wrong one, the history is how you get back.
Keep them tidy
The Protocols page lists every protocol, filtered by name. Open one to see everything it holds, then Edit or Delete. Editing a protocol changes only sessions you chart afterward, never ones already charted from it. A deleted protocol goes to the trash and can be restored; see trash and restore.
