You import three years of charts from your old system, and the next morning the dashboard says you have 1,400 notes to finish. Imported sessions are built to avoid that. They are history from somewhere else, so they arrive finished, not as drafts you still owe.
What an imported chart is
Go to Settings, find Import data, choose Import your data and pick Sessions. The steps, column matching and review table are the same as for any import, covered in CSV import. Each row becomes one chart with the points, pulse, tongue, pattern, technique, free text and custom field values from your file.
- Status is complete and the chart is unsigned. Nobody here attested to it, so nothing says it was signed off.
- Because it is complete, it does not count in your notes-to-finish totals.
- Opening the chart shows an Imported badge next to its status. You can open and edit it like any other chart.
Every chart gets an appointment
A chart in Goji belongs to an appointment, so importing books a completed one for each row, on the row's date, with the service's usual length. Map a provider column: it is required, because a past provider cannot be guessed. Service and location can stay unmapped if you only have one of each; with more than one, map them too.
The appointment is booked under the normal overlap rules. If a row lands on a time that overlaps another appointment for that provider, that row is not imported and comes back in the error file with the reason, while the rest of the file goes in. The appointments are marked completed from the start, so they send no confirmation or reminder. For a whole schedule, including future bookings, use Import appointments.
Custom fields are checked against yours
A plain column mapped to one of your chart fields is read as that field's type. A number must be a number, a date can be written the usual ways, a select must match one of its options (capitals and hyphens are ignored), and a multi-select takes a comma-separated list. A value that doesn't fit is an error on that row. A label in the combined Custom fields column that no longer matches any of your fields is skipped with a warning, and the row still goes in.
Fixing a chart afterwards
If the file carries ids, re-uploading it updates each chart's content and reuses its appointment instead of booking another. It never changes status, the Imported label or a signature, so a chart someone has since signed stays signed (Fix in a spreadsheet, re-upload). Without ids, every upload adds new charts.
Sessions imported before this behavior may still show as unfinished drafts. Owners and admins can fix that at the bottom of the import page with Mark earlier imports as imported: pick the dates you imported, review the count and confirm. Drafts that were edited, signed or deleted are never touched.
If you only need patients to stop reading as New, with no chart behind each visit, Import past visits is lighter.
