A doctor's visit on Tuesday at 1 shouldn't take your whole Tuesday off the schedule. Block the two hours, and patients booking online simply don't see them.
Blocking the time
There are two ways in. Open the ⋮ menu on the Calendar and choose Take time off, or on Day, Few Days or Week drag across open space and choose Block time off (drag to book covers the drag). A drag fills in the provider, day and hours and starts as a partial day; the menu starts as an all-day block.
Pick what the block covers under When:
- This day only: one date.
- A date range (vacation): a From and a Through date.
- Every weekday until a date: choose the weekday, a Starting date and an Until date, for example every Tuesday through the end of the year.
Leave All day checked to block the whole day, or uncheck it and set From and To in 15-minute steps. Hours apply to every day the block covers, so a range with hours blocks the same hours each day. The end time has to be after the start time. Reason is optional, up to 120 characters, and is the label on the calendar.
What it stops, and what it doesn't
Time off is for one provider. It is taken out of that provider's open hours, so the public booking page and the patient portal don't offer those times. If another provider at the facility is free then, the time is still offered with them. See provider and facility hours for how the open hours themselves are set.
It does not stop you. Booking from the Calendar doesn't consult time off, so you can still place a patient in a blocked stretch when you decide to. Time off also isn't a facility closure: it applies to the one provider you chose.
On the calendar
Time off draws as a hatched band in the provider's column on Day, Few Days and Week, labelled with the reason, or Time off if you left it blank. When the calendar is grouped by room there are no provider columns, so the bands aren't shown there.
Click a band to see its hours (or All day), the reason, and for a repeat the weekday and end date. Remove deletes it; on a repeating block the button reads Remove all repeats, because the whole series is one block. There is no edit, so to change a block, remove it and add it again.
When appointments are already booked
Before anything is blocked, Goji looks for that provider's confirmed appointments inside the window, judged in the facility's time zone. If there are any, you see how many and their times, with the advice to reschedule or cancel them first. Block time anyway goes ahead and leaves them booked, so you can follow up with those patients yourself. Goji never cancels or moves them for you.
